MAN VS WILD – Premiering Monday, July 11
25 June, 2011 Author: Catagories: News & Headlines

Bear Grylls has survived in some of the most dangerous places on Earth. From jungles to deserts and from Everest to Antarctica, he travels to places where you couldn’t last a day without the right survival skills. To kick off a run of all-new episodes of MAN VS WILD on Monday, July 11 from 9-10PM ET/PT, Bear brings along a companion – actor Jake Gyllenhaal.

MAN VS WILD will test how Gyllenhaal measures up to unpredictable and unforgiving Mother Nature. For two days, Bear and Jake embark on a survival experience neither will forget, to an Icelandic landscape dominated by mountains, huge glaciers and some of Europe’s most active volcanoes. Jake will have to go where Bear goes, eat whatever Bear eats, and on occasion even take the lead, if he’s going to cope with some of the worst conditions known to man. “For me, it’s all about discovery,” said Gyllenhaal.

Said Bear about the experience, “The wild is always very revealing – not only physically but mentally. You’ve got to smile when it’s driving horizontal hail and be able to face your fears and just get on and do it — and on both of those accounts, Jake came up strong.”

Jesse Eisenberg & Jake Gyllenhaal to Play Bank-Robbing Magicians?
9 June, 2011 Author: Catagories: News & Headlines, Rumours

The upcoming film from Clash of the Titans director Louis Leterrier may still sound a little goofy, but it’s seeking some big talent to possibly add some legitimacy. According to Variety Leterrier is working to cast Jesse Eisenberg, Jake Gyllenhaal and Melanie Laurent in Now You See Me, a heist film about magicians who “pull off daring bank heists during their performances, showering the profits on their audience.”Yeah, I have no idea how that would work either, but the idea of seeing Jesse Eisenberg trying to do it is so bizarre I can’t help but want to see it.

Eisenberg is only in early negotiations for the lead part, while Gyllenhaal and Laurent only have offers, which they could easily turn down. When we first wrote about his project back in February we had heard that the central characters would in fact be the FBI investigators tracking down the rogue magicians, which means we’ll probably see Eisenberg only solving crimes, not pulling a rabbit plus 50 gold bars out of a hat. Disappointing? Sure. But it sounds like there will be plenty more craziness to be entertained by in the movie, which Leterrier has planned as his post-Titans film.

Summit tests early VOD for ‘Source Code’
1 June, 2011 Author: Catagories: News & Headlines, Source Code

Summit Entertainment is the latest distributor to experiment with the video-on-demand window, announcing that “Source Code” will be available on VOD July 8 — some 68 days after its April 1 theatrical release but two weeks before the thriller bows on DVD and Blu-ray.

That window is eight days longer than the new $30 60-day premium window that Fox, Sony, Universal and Warner Bros. established this spring with DirecTV. The mini-major, which was not a part of those deals, is still bucking the traditional VOD model, in which on-demand titles are available at the same time as DVD releases for around $5. “Source Code” earned $110 million worldwide.

There are no specifics yet on pricing; it’s up to the cablers, satcasters and e-tailers to set that figure — not studios. However, since the early “Code” release is considered a test, none of the service providers are expected to raise the price much beyond the current $5 figure.
