Jake Gyllenhaal worked out in a flak jacket before shooting one of his movies, as he wanted to get used to running in a heavy costume.

The actor sports a rippling physique in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, and spent hours pumping iron to develop his flat stomach and rippling biceps. Jake knew he had to wear a weighty costume for the role, so decided to don a special outfit whenever he exercised so it didn’t come as too much of a shock.

“I wore a flak jacket to work out and carried an extra 20lbs when I went on a run to simulate the armour, which is very heavy. Whenever I ran I’d also carry something in my hand to get used to running with a sword,” he explained. “It was six months of training. Everything I did was so I could do the same thing on set, not for aesthetics.”

The 29-year-old pushed himself hard for the part, and didn’t stop training even on set. He wanted to shoot as many of the action sequences as possible himself, meaning he didn’t get much free time while making the movie.

“I always want to do as much as I can myself,” he has explained. “And I’m a perfectionist when it comes to fight sequences. I want to get every move perfect and I refuse to accept anything less than that.”

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time will be released on DVD later this month.

Before you freak out that our fave Hollywood hunk, Jake Gyllenhaal, is stepping out with a new babe, trust, we don’t mean that arm candy. The candy we’re referring to is how oh-so-delicious and totally mouthwatering his biceps are.

Seems after Prince of Persia (or as we like to call it: Sucked, Needed More Shirtless Scenes) Jakey-poo’s muscles may be more recognizable than his adorable puss. At least, that’s how the bearded boy is getting spotted lately:

‘Cause while the facial hair might throw some off, those arms are unmistakable.

Jake hit up a beginner’s yoga class at Yoga Works in Los Angeles last week and left his fellow classmates sweating from more than just Downward Facing Dog.

Wearing shorts and a tank-top—and of course the signature full beard (which we think he can pull off in a way Brad Pitt never could)—Jake tried to hide out in the back of the class. Uh, no chance there!

“His arms looked amazing,” a swooning stretcher reveals, dishing that the dude was in “incredible physical shape.”

Aside from his rock-hard bod, which we’re relieved to know he hasn’t ditched post-Persia, our pelvic-thrusting talker says that J.G. was way chill. As if we ever had doubts about his personality. It’s why we love him!

And who better to work off all that unlucky-in-love stress, alongside Jakey, than the recently single…

Rachel Bilson, who was also in attendance. Our spy wasn’t positive if they were together (as in together in the class, mind you) but revealed that Rach looked “extremely beautiful” and “perfect.”

Um, where the hell do we sign up for this yoga class?

There they discover that it has been raining non-stop for the past 3 weeks, and after a series of weather related disasters that occurred over the world. Everybody soon realizes that the world is going to enter a new ice age, as the rest of the world population tries to evacuate to the warm climates of the south. Jack makes a daring attempt to rescue his son and his friends who are stuck in New York, who have to survive not only a massive wave, but freezing cold temperatures that could possibly kill them.

REESE WITHERSPOON and her ex-boyfriend JAKE GYLLENHAAL are set to reunite to take part in a star-studded TV telethon to raise money for the Stand Up To Cancer campaign.

The actors, who broke off their relationship last year (09), are among a number of big names who have signed up to join the charity fundraiser, including The Big C star Laura Linney, cancer survivor Christina Applegate and Terrence Howard.

The Stand Up To Cancer telethon will see celebrities manning the phones to take donations from the public during an entertainment special, with performances from Stevie Wonder, Queen Latifah, and Martina MCBride.

The show will be broadcast in America on 10 September (10).
