“Crash” star Michael Pena is in negotiations to join Jake Gyllenhaal in David Ayer’s police pic “End of Watch.”

The gritty cop drama chronicles the friendship between two longtime partners.

In addition to writing and directing duties, Ayer is also producing through his Crave Films banner, along with John Lesher and his shingle Le Grisbi Prods.

Pena next stars alongside Will Ferrell in the Lionsgate dramedy “Everything Must Go,” and he’ll also re-team with his “Observe and Report” co-stars Danny McBride and Aziz Ansari in Ruben Fleischer’s “30 Minutes or Less,” which Columbia delivers to theaters Aug. 12. Thesp recently wrapped Brett Ratner’s “Tower Heist” with Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy, and he can currently be seen in minor supporting roles in both “Battle: Los Angeles” and “The Lincoln Lawyer.”

Jake Gyllenhaal launches silent auction at fundraiser for Short Hills nonprofit
17 April, 2011 Author: Catagories: News & Headlines

Actor Jake Gyllenhaal made an appearance at the New Eyes for the Needy See For Change II fundraiser on Thursday, March 31. The actor made an appearance at the Short Hills nonprofit’s fundraiser at the La Pomme nightclub in New York City, where he told the packed house about his poor eyesight, saying he reserved wearing glasses only for when he “has to look smart.

He spoke about how his grandfather persuaded him when he was a little boy to send his old glasses to New Eyes. “At first I said ‘no way’ but… have since learned the error of my ways… When I wake up all I see are colors and fuzzy things because my eyesight is so bad. I can’t imagine what it would be like if I didn’t have the resources to be able to see clearly.” In fact that is why the celebrity has advocated for New Eyes for several years now.

John Swihart Hired To Score David O. Russell’s ‘Nailed’
13 April, 2011 Author: Catagories: Nailed, News & Headlines

The saga continues for David O. Russell‘s “Nailed,” his aborted, troubled farce that he walked away from last year, but is still in the hands of financiers who are trying to get some kind of finished product released. Shooting on the film — written by O. Russell and Kristin Gore, daughter of Al — began in 2008 but was plagued by multiples delays and financial struggles on account of David Bergstein‘s shady dealings. Despite all that, production was noted to be only days away from completion with formerly silent partner Ron Tutor coming out from the shadows last year in an attempt to make something of the “$26 million just sitting on a shelf.” And while O. Russell has officially walked from the film, about a month ago, a screening of an extremely rough cut of the film played for an early test audience (you read reader feedback here) and at the time, it was noted the film was presented with an oldies soundtrack that we surmised was a temp track. Looks like we were right.

Jake Gyllenhaal in ‘Man vs. Wild’ on Iceland’s Eyjafjallajökull
13 April, 2011 Author: Catagories: News & Headlines

American actor Jake Gyllenhaal spent last weekend at the site of last year’s volcanic eruptions, Eyjafjallajökull glacier and Fimmvörduháls mountain range, in fierce weather to shoot an episode for the survival television series Man vs. Wild, hosted by English adventurer Bear Grylls on the Discovery Channel and Channel 4.

Gyllenhaal flew straight to Iceland from Rome where he was promoting his latest movie, Source Code. He is not the only film star who has starred in Man vs. Wild; it has also featured the survival strategies of US actors Ben Stiller and Will Ferrell, Fréttabladid reports.

“We can confirm that we were with Gyllenhaal and Grylls but I’d rather not comment any further on the story,” said Thór Kjartansson at the Icelandic production company True North which assisted the show’s crew on the glacier. “But they definitely got the wildest and best of Icelandic nature,” he added.
