  • Both Jeff Bauman and Jake Gyllenhaal threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Fenway Park for the Marathon Monday game of April 18, 2016.
  • Jeff Bauman’s former supervisor at Costco, Kevin, auditioned to play himself in the movie. Although he was not chosen for the part he is an extra in more than one scene.
  • Filmed at the same time as Patriots Day (2016), the other Boston Marathon bombing-related movie. Jeff Bauman is a supporting character in it portrayed by Dan Whelton.
  • Jake Gyllenhaal’s eyes are blue in real life, however, in the movie they are dark brown.
  • Bruins fans Scott and Aaron Tisdale were extras in the scenes filmed when Jeff Bauman receives the honor of being wheeled out to wave the Bruins flag at the “Bruins vs Blackhawks game. Those scenes were actually reenacted on 4/5/2016 after the Boston Bruins vs Carolina Hurricanes game.
  • Aunt Jen, played by Patricia O’Neil, and Young Husband played by Patrick Languzzi, were high school classmates. Their friendship dates back to first grade where they both starred in the play, The Cross Princess, at MacArthur elementary school, in Waltham, Massachusetts.
