‘Enemy’ & ‘Prisoners’ To Premiere At TIFF

Another title just added to the 2013 Toronto Film Festival is Denis Villeneuve’s Enemy based on “The Double” by Nobel Laureate José Saramago.

Enemy explores the troubled psyche of a man who is torn between his mistress and his wife and as the picture above shoes, Gyllenhaal plays dual roles in this one, both Adam and Anthony — a man and his double. Mélanie Laurent, Isabella Rossellini, Sarah Gadon, Stephen R. Hart and Jane Moffat co-star.

This is the second film for Villeneuve and Gyllenhaal in the festival as the thriller Prisoners will also be premiering at the fest, which is already set for a Sept 20 release and co-stars Hugh Jackman.

Jake Exits ‘Into the Woods’ As ‘Nightcrawler’ Gets Greenlight

Jake Gyllenhaal’s indie movie “Nightcrawler” has just been greenlit, forcing the Oscar-nominated actor to drop out of Disney’s Cinderella musical “Into the Woods” as a result of the scheduling conflict, TheWrap has learned.

Gyllenhaal had been in negotiations to play Cinderella’s Prince opposite Anna Kendrick in Rob Marshall’s highly-anticipated musical.

The edgy thriller is gearing up for a five-week shoot in early October and while Gyllenhaal wanted to make the dates work with “Into the Woods,” it proved impossible.

Jake Gyllenhaal In Talks To Star In ‘Everest’

Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke are in discussions to star in Everest, a mountain climbing disaster film that The Deep helmer Baltasar Kormakur will direct. He’s the one that’s putting the cast together and is aiming for a November shooting start. Universal Pictures and Emmett/Films are in discussions to co-finance the project. Working Title partners Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will produce. The story is based on the 1996 disastrous expedition to scale Mount Everest: Three different expeditions were hit by a sudden blinding storm and by the time it was all over, eight climbers died. The tale was first made famous by Jon Krakauer’s Into Thin Air, his first-person account of being among the lucky ones to make it back down the mountain. This film will be sourced from various books and interviews with survivors.

Jake Gyllenhaal To Present At Tony Awards

Oscar-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal will be a presenter at this Sunday’s Tony Awards at NYC’s Radio City Music Hall, EW has learned.

The 32-year-old star made his Off Broadway debut last fall in the drama If There Is I Haven’t Found It Yet, earning a Lucille Lortel Award nomination as Outstanding Featured Actor. He joins a swelling list of celebs who will appear at Broadway’s premiere awards show, including Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, Cuba Gooding Jr., Jesse Eisenberg, Jon Cryer, and Martha Plimpton.

The 67th Annual Tony Awards, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, will air on CBS at 8 p.m. on June 9.
