Chris Pine, Jake Gyllenhaal Circling ‘Into The Woods’

Jake Gyllenhaal and Chris Pine are in discussions to join Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep in Disney’s adaptation of the Broadway musical Into the Woods.

Deal-making hasn’t quite begun but the two actors met and even sang for director Rob Marshall for their respective parts and are expected to receive offers to join the star-studded cast.

If deals close, Gyllenhaal and Pine would play their first on-screen singing roles.

Into the Woods is a comic mash-up of classic fairy tales that revolves around a childless baker and his wife, who attempt to lift a family curse by journeying into the woods to confront the witch that put the spell on them. Along the way, they encounter a group of characters including Rapunzel, Cinderella & Little Red Riding Hood.

The hottest ticket in town is an uncomfortable seat, front and center, at the 10:30 a.m. SoulCycle class at Union Square, where dreamy Jake Gyllenhaal regularly sweats his way through workouts.

His cycling schedule — and favorite instructor — are no longer a secret, and devotees of the spin studio’s odd mix of aggro instructors and daintily lit candles are doing everything they can to snag a spot next to Gyllenhaal and his facial scruff.

Jake Gyllenhaal is continuing to focus on edgy, adult thrillers as he is set to star along with Rene Russo in the indie “Nightcrawler” that Tony Gilroy will produce.

Dan Gilroy is helming from a script he penned.

Story follows the story of a driven young man who discovers the nocturnal world of L.A. freelance crime journalism.

Gilroy will produce along with Gyllenhaal and Jennifer Fox along with Michel Litvak and David Lancaster who are producing and financing via their Bold Films banner.

“Lucky Guy,” “I’ll Eat You Last” and “Matilda” are among the major shows up for awards from the Drama League.

The country’s oldest theatrical honors unveiled the contenders for Distinguished Play, Distinguished Revival of a Play, Distinguished Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Musical, and Distinguished Performance Award at Sardi’s Restaurant. The nominees are a mixture of off-Broadway hits like Jesse Eisenberg’s play “The Revisionist” and Broadway big-tickets like the recent revival of “Annie.”

There is also a heavy Hollywood presence. Tom Hanks, Bette Midler, Alec Baldwin and Jake Gyllenhaal are just a few of the prominent names who are up for acting honors.

The Headstrong Project is proud to be hosting the first ever “Words of War” event on May 8th at IAC HQ in New York City.

This cocktail fundraiser is designed to further support the mission of the Headstrong Project, to help veterans recover from the hidden wounds of war in order to lead full and meaningful lives. Specifically, “Words of War” will support comprehensive mental healthcare for military veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan.

The evening will include a war poetry reading by Jake Gyllenhaal.
