‘Demolition’ Will Have Its US Premiere At SXSW Festival

South by Southwest has revealed its star-studded 2016 film festival lineup.

The schedule features no less than 10 world premieres, including “In a Valley of Violence” by Ti West, starring Ethan Hawke and Taissa Farmiga, “Shovel Buddies” starring Bella Thorne and “The Trust”, starring Nicolas Cage and Elijah Wood. The new Jean-Marc Vallée drama “Demolition”, featuring Jake Gyllenhaal and Naomi Watts, will also get its US premiere at the festival in Austin, Texas.

The film section of the multifaceted festival sees movies compete in 10 different categories, including narrative feature competition, documentary feature competition, headliners and visions.

Jake Gyllenhaal To Appear In Roundabout Theatre Documentary

A-list stars like Helen Mirren, Neil Patrick Harris and Jake Gyllenhaal will help honor the Roundabout Theatre Company in a short film to air on NBC in New York on Saturday, February 6th. The non-profit powerhouse theatre company is celebrating its 50th anniversary with the 22-minute documentary ‘A Roundabout Road to Broadway’. After Saturday, audiences can watch the film online at the NBC 4 New York website.

Harris will act as host and there will be interviews with Roundabout vets including Alec Baldwin, Laura Benanti, Matthew Broderick, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Adam Driver, Stephen Karam, Audra McDonald, Jane Krakowski, Frank Langella, Liam Neeson and Christopher Plummer.

The film will take viewers from Roundabout’s humble beginning to its fiscal crisis in the 1980s to eventual turnaround and the crucial role it plays in theatre today.

Jake Gyllenhaal Developing Cult Anthology Series For A&E

Jake Gyllenhaal is turning to television.

The actor-producer and his Nine Stories Productions is teaming with A&E to develop an anthology that each season explores a different American cult persona as well as the provocative nature of belief.

Season one of the untitled drama will focus on Jim Jones, the leader of the cult Peoples Temple of the Disciples of Christ. The potential series in its freshman season would chronicle Jones’ path and the infamous Jonestown commune where in 1978 more than 900 people died in a mass murder/suicide organized by Jones. It ranks as one of the largest single losses of American civilian lives in history.

Jake Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard Join Arthur Miller Centennial

On Monday, January 25, the Arthur Miller Foundation will present “One Night 100 Years” to celebrate the legacy of Arthur Miller and support the Arthur Miller Foundation for Theater and Film Education in New York City public schools. The one-night-only Broadway benefit performance will feature readings from Miller’s seminal plays and personal works.

According to the NY Times, Greta Gerwig, Jake Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard, as well as playwrights Ayad Akhtar and Katori Hall, have just signed on for the event. They join previously announced performers Alec Baldwin, Ellen Barkin, Laurence Fishburne, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, Tony Kushner and Sam Shepard.

Gregory Mosher, who helmed 2010’s revival of A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE, directs.
