South by Southwest has lined up Jake Gyllenhaal and producer Sarah Green as its first announced speakers for its featured conversations at next year’s festival.

SXSW chief Janet Pierson noted, “We are excited that Jake Gyllenhaal and Sarah Green are among our 2016 Featured Conversations. Jake continues to deliver outstanding performances in brave, outside-the-box roles. Sarah Green is a talented hands-on creative producer working with some of our most unique and visionary directors. Both Jake and Sarah have fascinating careers full of excellent, non-formulaic work, which is a SXSW sweet spot.”

To attend the SXSW Film Conference you must have a 2016 SXSW Film, Gold or Platinum badge – Register by this Friday, October 23rd, to save $145 off the walk-up rate for a Film badge.

The People’s Choice Awards have launched their 2016 voting polls in which you can vote for your favorites in movies, music and television. You can vote for Jake Gyllenhaal in the three categories: Favorite Movie Actor, Favorite Dramatic Movie Actor, and ‘Southpaw’ in the Favorite Dramatic Movie category.

The final nominees will be announced on November 3rd.

Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Kelly Macdonald and Bill Nighy are poised to join Tilda Swinton in “Okja,” a multilingual monster movie from “Snowpiercer” director Bong Joon-ho, multiple individuals familiar with the project have told TheWrap.

Details surrounding the project remain vague, but it is said to feature a Korean female lead and a host of English-language supporting actors whose scenes will be set in New York. Lewis Pictures is producing “Okja,” which is expected to start production early next year.

Swinton has already confirmed her involvement in the project while the other actors are in various stages of discussions, and though official offers have not gone out yet, they’re expected to shortly. Representatives for Gyllenhaal and Dano did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

At the Cannes Film Festival in May, Harvey Weinstein vowed to get Jake Gyllenhaal an Oscar nomination for Antoine Fuqua’s boxing drama “Southpaw” after the actor was shockingly passed over for a nod in last year’s “Nightcrawler.” It appears that wasn’t just lip service: The Weinstein Company announced Thursday that the film will be re-released on more than 300 screens tomorrow, Oct. 2.

The move gives the film a chance “to be seen by a more drama- and awards-focused fall audience,” according to the distributor. Added TWC President of Theatrical Distribution & Home Entertainment Erik Lomis, the re-release “gives more serious-minded audiences who may have missed it the first time around a chance to see a film that we feel is a very serious contender.”
