In the upcoming drama End of Watch, Anna Kendrick’s character meets the man of her dreams, falls in love and gets married. But she quickly realizes that being married to a police officer isn’t always easy. (Even when it’s one as hot as Jake Gyllenhaal!)

“I play a girl who has never dated a cop before, so she doesn’t really know the world that she’s gotten into,” Kendrick says in this behind-the-scenes look at the film.

Her handsome costar also dishes about the movie in this exclusive video. “For Brian, Janet sort of brings a sense of family, a sense of love, a sense of intimacy,” Gyllenhaal says. “He loves her so much that it hurts.”

When Jake Gyllenhaal signed on to play a brash, ambitious young cop in David Ayer’s End of Watch, he took his training to the extreme.

The 31-year-old actor beefed up and shaved his head, military-style, to play Officer Taylor, who patrols the meanest, most gang-addled streets of south central Los Angeles alongside his partner, Officer Zavala, played by Michael Pena. The two, who are also best friends, run into trouble when they see something they shouldn’t.

“I spent five months on the streets with, like, three sets of police officers from the sheriff’s department and from the LAPD for five months, three nights a week, from like 4 in the afternoon til 4 in the morning,” Gyllenhall said at THR’s special screening of the film at Goose Creek in East Hampton, N.Y.

The 2012 Toronto Film Festival schedule was announced today. Jake’s film, ‘End of Watch’, will have its world premiere on September 8th at 9:45 PM. Jake is expected to attend, according to the official press release.
