First Look At Jake Gyllenhaal In ‘Everest’

Entertainment Weekly has released the first official image from ‘Everest’. The snowcapped thriller stars Jason Clarke and Jake Gyllenhaal as guides leading the treacherous 1996 expedition to Mount Everest, where a blizzard killed eight people. ‘Everest’ is scheduled to be released in the US on September 18th, 2015.

‘Everest’ Release Date Pushed Back Seven Months

It will take a little longer to climb Everest. Universal has pushed back the release of its mountain climbing drama from Feb. 27, 2015, to Sept. 18, 2015.

Directed by 2 Guns helmer Baltasar Kormakur, the film, which will be released in 3D, stars Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes and Jake Gyllenhaal. The cast is rounded out by Martin Henderson, Emily Watson, Michael Kelly and Thomas M. Wright.

The project, which is based on a true story, follows the events of an ill-fated 1996 climb to the top of the world’s tallest mountain. It is shooting on location in Nepal on the foothills of Everest, the Italian Alps and at Cinecitta Studios in Rome and Pinewood Studios in the U.K. Universal will distribute the film worldwide.
