‘The Guilty’ TIFF Interviews (Videos)

Although Jake wasn’t able to attend the Toronto Film Festival last weekend to promote ‘The Guilty’, he did do several virtual interviews with director Antoine Fuqua. He also participated in a conversation with the producers of the film, hosted by the Producers Guild of America. Check out the clips in our video archive.

78th Venice Film Festival – ‘The Lost Daughter’ Premiere

Jake showed his support for sister Maggie’s directorial debut, ‘The Lost Daughter’, by attending the world premiere of the film at the Venice Film Festival in Italy yesterday. Photos from the event have been added to the gallery. Various clips of Jake and Maggie on the red carpet have also been added to our video archive.

Jake Explains How He Made It Through Netflix’s ‘The Guilty’

It’s hard to imagine feeling more isolated making a movie than Jake Gyllenhaal did on Netflix’s The Guilty.

From the moment the Oscar-nominated actor saw the Danish original of the same name at Sundance in 2018, he “just felt in my bones” that the “intense, psychological thriller” would translate to an American context. Gyllenhaal quickly acquired the rights, recruiting True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto as writer and Antoine Fuqua, whom he previously collaborated with on the 2015 boxing drama Southpaw, as director. And then came the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent Hollywood shutdown — but Gyllenhaal soon realized that he actually had the ideal movie to be made during this unique time.

The Guilty takes place completely over one day in a 911 dispatch call center and features the main character, demoted cop-turned-operator Joe Bayler (played by Gyllenhaal), mostly interacting with a deep bench of recognizable actors that both he and the audience hear but never see.

‘The Guilty’ Is Coming To Netflix On October 1st

The first stills from ‘The Guilty’, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Riley Keough and Peter Sarsgaard, have been added to the gallery. ‘The Guilty’ will be in theaters on September 24, and on Netflix on October 1.

Antoine Fuqua directs this tense thriller set over the course of a single morning in a 911 dispatch call center, as call operator Joe Baylor (Jake Gyllenhaal) tries to save a caller in grave danger—but soon discovers that nothing is as it seems.
